K3b is a CD and DVD burning application for Linux systems optimized for KDE. It provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD burning tasks, such as creating an audio CD from a set of audio files or copying a CD. While the experienced user can influence all steps of the burning process, the beginner may find comfort in the automatic settings and the reasonable defaults which allow a quick start. The actual burning is done by the command line utilities cdrecord, cdrdao, and growisofs.

Este lanzamiento marca el último hito en el esfuerzo para portar el código a la versión actual de KDE 4. K3b ahora se aprovecha de la nueva plataforma y se integra mejor con ella. Esta versión es un puerto directo de su predecesor KDE3. El aspecto general sigue siendo el mismo, pero ahora utiliza reproductores modernos. Con pocas excepciones, K3b mantiene la paridad de funciones con la serie 1.0.x, pero también introduce una serie de nuevas características. This release marks the last milestone in the effort to port the code to KDE's current version 4. K3b now takes advantage of the new platform and integrates better with it. This version is a direct port of its KDE3 predecessor. The overall look remains the same, but it now uses modern widgets. With a few exceptions, K3b keeps feature-parity with the 1.0.x series, but it also introduces a number of new features. Perhaps the biggest among these is support for Blu-ray drives. Additionally, a lot of work has been put into improving the overall user experience.
