Software Map

The ATLAS (Automatically Tuned Linear Algebra Software) project is an ongoing research effort focusing on applying empirical techniques in order to provide portable performance. It provides C and Fortran77 interfaces to a portably efficient BLAS implementation, as well as a few routines from LAPACK.

Cdrdao records audio/data CD-Rs in disk-at-once
(DAO) mode based on a textual description of the
CD contents (toc-file). Features include full
control over length and contents of pre-gaps
(pause areas between tracks). Pre-gaps may be
completely omitted, e.g. for dividing live
recordings into tracks. Control over sub-channel
data like catalog numbers, copy, pre-emphasis,
2-/4-channel flags, ISRC code, and index marks are
provided as well. GCDMaster is a Gnome GUI
front-end that lets you import MP3 and WAV files,
select track markers and cut/copy/paste audio
snippets before burning.

libmikmod is a portable sound library, which used to be packaged with the MikMod module player, but is now released independently. It is capable of playing samples as well as module files, using the OSS driver for output, as well as ALSA and EsounD. Supported module formats include MOD, S3M, XM, IT, MED, MTM, and 669, to name a few.

Streamripper records MP3, Ogg, AAC, and NSV audio
and video files from Shoutcast and Icecast
compatible streams. The streams can be recorded as
a whole or in individual tracks. Streamripper also
features a relay stream, which lets you listen or
watch live from multiple clients while recording.

Lire is a pluggable log analyzer. It has analyzers for over 25 log file formats, ranging from Apache WWW log files to iptables firewall logs and CUPS printing logs. Reports are generated in 9 different output formats, ranging from Excel 95 to PDF to HTML, optionally with included graphs.

Zip is a compression and file packaging utility
for Unix, VMS, DOS, OS/2, Windows 9x/NT, Amiga,
Atari, Macintosh, BeOS, SMS/QDOS, MVS, VM/CMS, and others. It is analogous to a combination of the
Unix commands tar(1) and compress(1) and is
compatible with PKWARE's PKZIP and Nico Mak's WinZip. It's part of the Info-ZIP project.

FFmpeg is a tool for converting audio, video, and subtitles. It includes libavcodec, the leading open source codec library. It also includes libavformat (implementing muxers and demuxers), libswscale (for very fast video scaling), and libavfilter (an advanced video filter system supporting arbitrary filter graphs), and libavutil (a utility library intended to supplement libc). A simple multimedia player is included too. An experimental streaming server for live broadcasts is also included.

Privoxy is a Web proxy based on Internet Junkbuster with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting privacy, filtering Web page content, managing cookies, controlling access, and removing ads, banners, pop-ups, and other obnoxious Internet junk. Privoxy has a very flexible configuration and can be customized to suit individual needs and tastes. Privoxy is useful for both stand-alone systems and multi-user networks.

BORG is a calendar and task tracking system
written entirely in Java. The calendar is an
appointment organizer that provides a nice month
view, month printing, email reminders, popup
reminders, and a to do list. The task tracker
tracks issues and tasks through various
user-defined states.
