Gutuma is a feature rich PHP newsletter/mailing
list management tool that is designed to be easy
to install and use. It doesn't require a database,
yet offers multiple lists, import and export from
CSV, file attachments, drafts, AJAX subscribe
gadgets, administrator email notifications, MD5
protected logins, and batched deliveries that can
be driven by a cron job.

lister is a simple mailing list manager. It is
written for, tested, and used on small private lists.

Stripmime removes non-MIME sections from email.
It removes everything that isn't text, and leaves
behind the text. At the end of the message, it
reports any stripped content. If it finds a message
which has only a text/html section, it will do a
simple conversion to plaintext.

j-XChange is a pure Java implementation of the
entire Collaboration Data Objects (CDO 1.21)
library for accessing Microsoft Exchange Server in
a platform independent manner. This library will
allow interoperability with MS Exchange from all
non-Windows platforms that support Java. This
library is powered by j-Interop.

SmartPost is a complete email platform based on Davide Libenzi's xmail. It has Web interfaces for adding and managing email domains, for postmasters to manage their email users, and for users to send and receive email.

Openmaillist is written to be a hybrid of a mailing list manager and a message board system. You can post via email and subscribe to lists, as well as log in and do whatever you can with a forum.

Approver is a set of scripts for automatically approving posts to Majordomo-moderated mailing lists based on the sender's email address. Approver also converts HTML email posts to plain text by first filtering them through DEMIME, and it bounces all posts submitted to mailing lists made by non-list members, preventing list moderators from being bombarded by bogus submissions created by email worms and viruses originating from list member's infected computers.

HamCannon is a Zope/Plone product for managing
outbound email marketing. HamCannon is designed
for sending ham, not spam: it has much support for
helping users unsubscribe and none for hiding from
them. HamCannon provides all of the tools required
to produce personalized email newsletters or other
email marketing, with subscription management,
open tracking, bounce tracking and link tracking,
complete statistical reporting and complete
personalization, limited only by your data.

JergoBlatz! is a mailing list server with special functionality for play-by-email games, especially turn based games. Users can set options and send email to each other in character. It also includes a TK based GUI for setting up the configuration files.

Xataface Email Module allows you to email to the
results of any set found in a Xataface
application. This allows you to easily convert
your existing database of contacts into a mailing
list. It supports HTML email, recipient opt-out,
mailmerge macros, and more. The email is sent in
the background via a cron script, so arbitrarily
large email lists can be supported.

sesoma is a daemon that allows you to build a virtual user infrastructure using sendmail and PostgreSQL/MySQL, without patching sendmail, by using socket map. You can control from the database all your virtual domains, aliases, mailertable, and access.

CCIL-MT is a Web-based tool to send an email
message to a list of recipients. It uses PHP
4.x/5.x and MySQL 4.x/5.x.

ezmlm-browse is a Web interface for browsing
ezmlm-idx (version 0.40 or later) archives. The
presentation is modeled from that of the ezmlm-cgi
archive browser that is part of ezmlm-idx, but
with several additions. However, the output is
completely template-driven, so you can make it fit
into your current Web scheme.

maildir-bulletin takes a message on standard input, i.e. it runs in the same fashion as a mailing list program, and puts the message in every user's Maildir. The message is created once and links are created from all user's Maildir's to the original. This saves greatly on disk space usage and time. Delivering a 1K message to 100,000 users should only take a few hundred K of disk space and take ten or twenty minutes. If you have an alias to expand to 100,000 users the same 1K message will take 100M of storage and take several hours.
