newsq

newsq allows you to re-edit, view, delete, and
postpone messages in your outgoing news queue
after you've composed them but before you've
uploaded them to your remote server. It uses the
curses library to provide a powerful text-based
interface. News transports currently supported are
leafnode, s-news, sn (partial), slrnpull, and NNTP
servers in conjunction with a batch file such as
used by an INN/suck/rpost or INN/newsstar
combination.

News::Overview

News::Overview is a Perl object that manages
condensed information about Usenet posts in the
overview format. It accepts information from an
NNTP XOVER command, and allows for basic searching
and sorting of the referenced articles. It was
designed to be part of several other news modules.

Bulletin Board News Server

Bulletin Board News Server is a (relatively) quick NNTP interface for vBulletin. It reads directly from the MySQL DB and is therefore independent of the Web frontend. It doesn't alter read counters, but "forbidden names", name size limitations, user authentication, and anonymous posting (through a "usenet" user) are implemented. Registered users (either in the vboard or through a proprietary pw hash in the config file) can see the email addresses of others, as far as the owners permit it.

Nxgate

Nxgate acts as an XML-RPC gateway between an NNTP server (like INN)
and any program that can call XML-RPC Web services (like Radio 8). It
can be used to batch import postings from an internal NNTP server to a
Web log.

MessageViewer

MessageViewer is a very simple GTK program that
fetches and views one Usenet news message based on
its message-id. Its main use is to quicky look at
one article in cases where opening a real news
reader and trying to locate it based on msg-id is
too much of a hassle. It can also read the
message-id in news:<id> or news:id URL
formats, and can therefore be set to handle such
protocol requests. It does not support
authentication of any kind at the moment.

Ausadmin

The ausadmin project is designed to automate the
maintenance of USENET newsgroup hierarchies (such
as aus.*) and provide end-users with useful online
information regarding all the newsgroups in the
hierarchy as well as proposals (Request For
Discussion and Call For Votes). It consists of a
software package and a Web site package. The
software implements Perl classes which maintain
data structures representing existing newsgroups
and proposals for new newsgroups, and the Web site
is mostly dynamically generated by Perl CGI and
PHP code which reads the data structures mentioned
above. The Web site is intended to provide the
user with as much information as possible about
the newsgroups which are under management.

Korallenriff

Korallenriff is a program that collects input from
different network sources and stores their data
into one database. For example, it can receive
POP3 mail or can fetch NNTP groups and store the
received messages in a database. One can then, for
example, use the database data within a Web site
to display the latest postings of a newsgroup or
to create an online mailing list archive. Another
possible use would be to build a blogging-software
where one can post via email.
