Annotate provides an annotation facility for DocBook documents. It
enables visitors to an online version of a DocBook document to add
comments to any paragraph or chapter of the document. It extends the
DocBook XSL stylesheets, leading to modified HTML output which contains
anchors at those places where annotations can be made. Comments and
notes are stored in a DBMS. A CGI program then merges the HTML document
and the comments to produce the output for the visitor.

refdb-mode is a minor mode for Emacs that implements an interface to RefDB, a reference management and bibliography tool for SGML, XML, LaTeX, and Muse documents. It integrates nicely with psgml, nxml-mode, AucTeX, and muse-mode. refdb-mode provides the complete functionality of the RefDB command line clients
from a graphical interface. You can add and edit references, notes, and styles, run queries, and insert the results as citations into your DocBook, TEI, LaTeX, or Muse documents. You can also look up cited references in the database right from your document. You can create, transform, and view these documents with a mouse click. This amounts to an integrated authoring environment for markup languages with reference management and bibliography support.

PHPTAL is a fast, safe, XML-based template engine for XHTML and HTML5. It implements Zope's Template Attribute Language, which has clean, concise syntax that is compatible with XML tools (no custom ugly tags), and template source files can even be previewed in Web browsers or opened in WYSIWYG editors. Templates are compiled to PHP and cached, giving great performance and taking advantage of PHP accelerators. PHPTAL by default ensures well-formed output and escapes XML-unsafe characters everywhere, which means that your pages can be completely safe against HTML-injection (XSS) without great effort. It features fine-grained caching of output, pre- and post- filters, internationalization via gettext or custom backend, creation of custom template attributes and expressions, and templates loaded from non-standard sources (e.g. databases). It supports UTF-8 well, is easy to integrate and redistribute with PHP frameworks and applications, and has an object-oriented design and a comprehensive unit test suite.

The docbookm package is contributed with LayManSys
and contains very simple XSLT drivers for
generating XHTML chunks from DocBook XML. This
package does not require an installation; you only
have to unzip the package's contents into a
directory of your choice and start using it.
There is no special documentation available. Use
the file abstract.xsl for transforming an abstract
and section.xsl for transforming sections. All
other .xsl files are only includes needed by those
two.

GXPARSE is not a new XML parser, but is an additional processing layer that makes it much easier to use event-based parsers like the SAX parser. It supports both direct sequential output and random access output (via the Resequencer interface). The random access mode delays output until all input has been processed, but makes it much easier to handle ID/IDREF attributes. GXPARSE maintains most advantages of the event-based parser. Application development and maintenance is considerably easier, but processing is a little slower.

MkDoc is a C and C++ code documentation tool. It parse complex code and still produces clear documentation for developers and library users. Unlike most code generation tools, it does not simply write generated code documentation with pieces of user text inside. Instead it handles plain documentation files with sections and other constructs (like Texinfo or LaTeX) and inserts pieces of generated code documentation on request. Thus it does not enforce any way of structuring your document. It has been designed to parse advanced C++ constructs including class inheritance, template specialization, and template instantiation. XHTML, Texinfo, LaTeX, and DocBook output formats are supported.
