Soulseek (http://www.slsknet.org) is a communication and file-sharing system. It is quite similar to Napster: it lets you exchange files, search for files, chat with other users in public and in private, browse their files, and get recommendations for music. SoulSeek for Linux is a GUI client for the system written in Python/wxPython. It includes all the major functionality: chat, searches, and file transfers.

The new more efficient distributed network is now supported. The server location is now hardcoded. Files in 'Cannot connect' state are now retried once. This release adds code cleanups, ignore list and autoaway features, a
popup menu in private chat tabs, and lots of smaller changes and
bugfixes. Rescanning of shared folders during startup now happens in
the background. Userlist now has its own tab. It's now possible to
add comments to userlist entries and to download two files with the
same name simultaneously. Already existing files are now never
overwritten. Search and browse lists now have bitrate and length as
separate columns.
