Sounds strange. In the shift+mouse menu, the misc menu does not work,  
the courier menu does work and the fontset menu does work at my hand.  
One can also use "Options > Show/Hide > Font Panel" in the menu bar.

Possibly not, because Hiromatsu-san carefully selected fonts which  
are originally included in OS X.

That one doesn't work on Panther. I use bzipped-dmg format for Tiger,  
in order to reduce the file size.
