OK I have made a start on the tutorial pages for 1.8.x . They are just a work in progress so far. Here's some of the changes (also in svn log): added extra information to toplevel index page added new tutorial-index.html.en as a contents page for the 1.8 tutorial added a new tutorial-1.html.en and shifted the numbering added temporary place to insert binary installation commands added linebreak before each heading added numbered headings added navigation footer added bold text to highlight important points and improve readability The binary installation commands are obviously not yet available, but I leave them there just as a placeholder. I need also to insert GRUB instructions and have left a placeholder there also. I will continue this at the weekend. You may notice that I have removed a big chunk of information talking about the command $PATH, policy editor and profiles that was previously in 1.8/tutorial-1.html.en...I will add this information back at the appropriate place (probably in 1.8-tmp/tutorial-3.html.en) when I start working again.
