僕もsolarisでコンパイルしてみました。solaris8ではなく7ですが。
configureの結果はこのようになりました。
Anthy : no
Canna : no
PRIME : no
m17n-lib : no
SCIM : no
Gtk+ : no
Gnome : no
Gnome Applet : no
Qt : no
Qt immodule : no
FEP : yes
XIM : yes
DICT : no
EB : no
Default toolkit : gtk
uim-ximのコンパイルでいきなりこけました。C++のヘッダがないようです。

uim-xim以外はコンパイルできたのですが、installed-modules.scmの先頭にゴ
ミがついていて起動できませんでした。

solarisのshのechoには-nオプションがないようです。
scm/Makefileのecho -nの部分を$(ECHO) -nにしたらうまくいきました。
これでuim-fepを起動できるようになったのですが、SKKが選択できません。
なにが原因なのかよくわかりません。
trussで確認しましたが、libuim-skk.soはopenできているようです。
truss uim-fep 2>&1 | grep skk
uim-fep -hで使用できる変換エンジンを確認したらtcodeとtutcodeも使えない
ようです。
