mkvtoolnix is a set of tools that allow users to display information about, extract streams from, merge several streams into, and split Matroska media files. Supported video stream types include streams from AVIs, Ogg/OGM, RealVideo, MP4 files, and MPEG program streams as well as verious elementary streams (h264/AVC, MPEG1/2, VC1, Dirac). Supported audio formats include AAC, (E)AC3, DTS/DTS-HD, FLAC, MP2, MP3, RealAudio, and Vorbis. Several subtitle formats are supported, including SRT, SSA, ASS, VobSub, and many others.

El "Add File" el diálogo no se muestran algunos tipos de archivos en Windows. Los archivos creados por Theora v1.1, SRT archivos con marcas de tiempo negativas, y los archivos con los formatos MP4 capítulo actualmente determinados leer correctamente. Extracción de subtítulos de Blu-Ray (S_HDMV / PGS) y una opción para establecer el segmento de UID se han añadido. Archivos VOB que se dividen (como en DVD) se leen automáticamente. mmg sólo sugiere los nombres de archivo único de salida añadiendo un número de ejecución. El editor de cabecera escribe a los archivos con un tamaño de segmento desconocido correctamente. The "add file" dialog didn't show some file types on Windows. Files created by Theora v1.1, SRT files with negative timestamps, and MP4 files with certain chapter formats are now read correctly. Extraction of Blu-Ray subtitles (S_HDMV/PGS) and an option for setting the segment UID have been added. VOB files that are split up (like on DVDs) are read automatically. mmg only suggests unique output file names by appending a running number. The header editor writes to files with an unknown segment size correctly. A Japanese translation of the man pages and a Chinese Simplified one of mmg's guide were added.
