CGTerm is a set of telnet and chat clients that emulate the
PETSCII display of Commodore's 8-bit computers, with
colours and the correct font.

DataReel is a free, cross-platform database and communications toolkit. It can
be used to rapidly develop and deploy multi-threaded database and
communications applications. The DataReel toolkit is composed of a modular C++
library designed to build cross-platform infrastructures for end-user
applications, embedded systems, and reusable libraries. DataReel's unique
modular design simplifies adaptation, allowing you to determine the level of
complexity. DataReel makes Internet connectivity and database programming easy.

cyclades-serial-client is an RFC 2217 compliant
client that works with servers such as Cyclades
Terminal Servers and sercd. It creates a virtual
serial port which connects to the server over a
network.

pmc (Perl MUD Client) is a text-based MUD client written in Perl, supporting GNU readline, ANSI colors, SSL connections, telnet negotiations, and local editing through MCP (Moo/MUD Client protocol).

vmodemd is a telnet server designed to run old DOS BBS systems and door games. It listens for incoming TCP connections on a defined port, does a minimal telnet handshake if needed, and then starts to proxy all data to a PTY which is bound to a dosemu virtual serial port. vmodemd supports any number of virtual modems, can display customized banners if all modems are busy, can terminate a serial app when a telnet connection is unexpectedly dropped, and run custom scripts before passing control to dosemu, allowing you to pass relevant data like incoming IP address to the DOS app.

Playlist Warlock is a text-based frontend for mpg123 written in Perl. It is intended to provide users with the playlist browsing and song selection of a GUI MP3 player from any terminal. It provides a combination of Winamp/XMMS, vi/less, and Unix prompt-style commands for creating, editing, sorting, and navigating MP3 playlists. Using mpg123 as a backend, PLWarlock allows the user to easily browse playlists and play MP3s. It supports contiguous and random play, simple jump-to-song syntax, sorting by filename/path+filename, and all the other commands you've come to expect from a good MP3 player.

The Karma System is a distributed, terminal
independent, stylistic bbs (bulletin board)
scripting environment for unix/linux. It is
reminiscent ansi/ascii glory of days past.

gtermix is a GTK+ telnet client intended for
calling BBSes. It utilizes a custom VGA textmode
emulating terminal widget that allows it to
accurately render bulletin board systems as they
were in DOS terminal programs. It currently
features a GTK+ user interface, dialing directory,
support for ANSI, vt100, Avatar, and TextFX
terminal emulations, and proper rendering for
DOS-style BBSes.

WAWAS is a full PHP application server.
The main server core listens to any IP/port and passes data to any mounted protocol on the listener. Implemented protocols are HTTP1.1/1.0, Comet, Telnet, DNS, mail, and FTP. Each protocol runs modules that build response data based on the requests. Memory object persistence allows data and caches to be shared across protocols or time. All configuration uses XML. It can be launched as a daemon, with or without forked workers, and is nearly as fast as Apache in preliminary tests.

Cancan is a text-based, interactive utility similar to telnet, but with a
number of extensions useful for MUD playing. Another use might be
to provide line editing, aliases, etc., for those services that have a
simple telnet interface. Cancan features aliases, actions, key
bindings, text highlighting, substitutions, and line editing with history
and completion.
