Software Map

PHP map tile engine was created using PHP and MySQL (with spatial data types) for use with the the Google Maps API. Spatial data is loaded in via .shp and .dbf files. The project is split into 2 sections: the tile engine and the example that uses the tile engine. The example is very simplistic and does not provide a proper interface for managing the layers. At the moment, it illustrates how to import a .shp file and how this data can be viewed in Google Maps.

Geomajas geocoder plug-in is a Geomajas plug-in that provides a generic command and GWT widget for finding map locations based on a free string. You can configure how exactly this conversion is done, using either your own data or some external service like Geonames or Yahoo! PlaceFinder.

Geomajas caching plug-in is a plug-in for the Geomajas mapping framework that improves the speed by caching, by default based on the Infinispan cache library. The cached data can be tiles, features, bounds, or rasterized data (for the rasterizing plug-in). It has a configurable caching strategy, and automatically invalidates data when needed.

CapCode is a navigation system for sailors with a specialization in regatta assistance. It handles acquisition of data coming from NMEA bus and GPS, computation of the VMG, and route tracing on raster charts. It contains a chart editor.

The Geomajas OpenStreetMap layer allows you to define a raster layer for any Geomajas application based on OpenStreetMap tiles. It can use either the default MapNik rendered tiles, tiles from another source like OpenCycleMap, or other renderings.

zip-center accepts n ZIP codes on the command line. It converts these ZIP codes to latitude and longitude, averages them separately, finds a ZIP code whose center is nearest the lat/lon center point, and computes the distance of each input zip code from the resulting centrally-located zip code in miles (taking into account the variable width of longitudinal differences). This allows a caller of the script to do things like pick a centrally-located venue for a meeting given the ZIP codes of the prospective attendees.

Geomajas Search & Filter provides an advanced widget for searching and filtering in Geomajas. It contains the ability to search and filter based on geometry (drawn or reusing existing), possibly with a buffer, combined with searching on feature attributes.

Geomajas Feature Info Tools provide additional tools and widgets for displaying feature attribute information. They include improved feature info display, display of feature info on hover, and various others.
