Slinky-detect is a bootable hardware detection
floppy. It is designed to make it easier to
register and test hardware. Once it starts, it
writes a report of the hardware that it detected
to the boot floppy (as report.txt). The system can
then be powered down, as no disks are mounted.
Overall startup to shutdown should be about 1 or 2
minutes. To make the data gathering easier, each
machine is assigned a unique identifier. The
report is also saved in the floppy using the same
identifier. The disk has about 195k available, so
it can store over 100 reports at once.
