prescanic is a fully featured IP scanner. It supports SYN scanning, banner grabbing, forking, a debug mode, a verbose mode, anonymous login detection, telnet parsing, HTTP server information, RPC scanning, and more.

pad sequential filenames so alphabetical order
matches numerical order. It automatically
determines the necessary integer field width, treats
filenames with different prefixes or suffixes
separately, removes redundant padding, and is
reasonably efficient, even for thousands of names.

DynaBlast is a fast Apache HTTPD access_log scanner. It can find hosts that exceed a given number of hits in a given time period, printing them to standard output. It has a "fast mode" that can skip lines that have already been parsed. Multiple dynablast instances are avoided by using a lock file. This make it suitable for crontab usage. It can be run by any user, not just root. It can run in parallel, for example, when analyzing different access_log files. It keeps memory consumption down to about 10 kb, by parsing the access_log file one line at a time.

KScannerButtons is a daemon plus an optional KDE frontend for monitoring your scanner buttons so that actions can be taken in response to button presses. It's composed of a daemon (sanebuttond), a frontend that will display an icon in the systray, and a dialog box to configure and launch the daemon. It is based on the button monitoring capabilities found in some SANE backends. It has been tested with the avision backend and an HP 5300C scanner. The frontend requires Kommander (kde-webdev).

Eikazo is a frontend to SANE, an application
programming interface that provides standardized
access to many image scanners. It features plugin
mechanisms to support special device features,
image processing, and output modules. Currently
available image processing plugins include
automatic threshold, "dirt removal", and image
rotation. More than one output option can be
enabled.

geniusvp2 is a SANE backend for the Genius ColorPage-Vivid Pro II flatbed scanner. It was initially based on the pxscan code from Gustaf Kröling, but has been (almost) completely rewritten.

The metric implemented in the Image::Density Perl
Module estimates the density of data where there
is data, and has a reasonable correlation with
goodness as judged by humans. That is, if you let
a human look at a set of images and judge quality,
the density values for those images as calculated
here tend to correlate well with the human
judgement (densities that are too high or too low
represent "bad'' images). It is intended for use
on bitonal TIFF images, such as those from
scanning paper documents.

tiffscan is an advanced SANE frontend. It has
batch mode capabilities and can generate
compressed multi-page TIFF files. It handles from
black and white to 8-bit and 16-bit infrared scans.

wmcapshare is a little Window Maker dockapp that provides a basic interface to the HP Capshare to manage the files uploaded from the CapShare.

This is a device driver for the Genius handheld scanners GS4500 and GS-4500A. It also works with theHighscreen Greyscan 256 scanner. Two simple scanning applications are included.

C_Sane is a C++ wrapper for the SANE library.

Signsrch is a tool that searches for signatures inside raw files and executables. It can recognize a large number of compression, multimedia, and encryption algorithms and many other things like known strings and portions of anti-debugging code. Definitions can be manually added, since they are based on an ease-to-modify text signature file that is read at runtime. It also supports the scanning of processes, conversion of executable memory offsets, 8, 16, 32 and 64 bits, float and double, plus automatic CRC table creation and C style strings.

NIASH's Test Tool is a prototype driver for scanners based in NIASH chipsets (HP Scanjet 3300c, 3400c, 4300c, and Agfa Snapscan Touch). It supports scanning (at fixed DPI) and experimental calibration. It can also be integrated in SANE as a backend.
