UnixTree is a powerful and versatile console-mode file manager, modeled very closely after the distinguished DOS program XTreeGold. It provides both a fast and catchy interface for daily file and directory maintenance needs, as well as the ability to perform sophisticated tasks on arbitrary selections of particular files, all across the directory tree.

The Java Conduit Manager is a Java application for installing and uninstalling
Java conduits to the Palm Hotsync manager. Featured conduits are the XML Java
conduits for the basic Palm pilot applications (addressbook, todolist, memopad,
and datebook). These conduits perform a full mirror synchronisation between the
handheld and the desktop, saving the information in XML files.

Waffle (Waffle's A Fast File Level Explorer) is designed to allow users to browse their files quickly using a Windows Explorer-like interface. It allows you to launch applications by double clicking on files, and each file extension is associated with a different application of your choice. It is has a plugin API for writing extensions.

Gbrowser is a tabbed file manager and terminal
emulator with many useful features. It attempts to
provide a clean and user-friendly interface that
is comfortable to use.

Mini Gtk+ File Manager has been written with size
optimization in mind. To achieve this goal, some
code from the Busybox project was used. It
contains a simple text editor, a text viewer, a
task manager, an image viewer, and a filesystem
information tool.

JIBS provides full-screen slide shows, image sorting, and
simple image manipulation. It is perfect for taking a set of
digital pictures, rotating, resizing, and sorting them into
correct directories. It is also great for managing downloaded
images.

Emperor is a Commander-style (“orthodox”) file manager for the GNOME desktop. Unlike similar programs such as GNOME Commander or mc, it uses GIO to integrate with the GNOME desktop and take advantage of GVfs-FUSE.

Envoy is an "open and display things" library. It provides an interface for storing file associations and launching files based on those associations. This comes with a wrapper program to enable desktop users to benefit from the file associations without developers adding explicit support. It also supports opening any URI transparently, as long as the corresponding protocol support exists: applications that want simple read (and write, depending on the protocol) access to files, wherever they are, can use the envoy API to do so.

XionDE is a desktop environment for Linux.
Currently, only the XionDE.fm (file manager) part
of the project is available.

Nautilus-clamscan is a Nautilus extension that
adds a "Scan for viruses" item to the menu that
appears when right-clicking on files. The progress
and results of the anti-virus scan are shown in a
progress dialog.

LnxZip is a GNOME frontend to common archive utilities under Linux/Unix. The goal is to provide the end user with a quality tool the user requires to either work with compressed files or create RPMs.

PhotoGroup is a GNOME program for organising (and displaying) collections of images.

"dim," short for "directory image," is a demonstration of an alternative layout algorithm for listing files in a directory. dim organizes files by vertically by filename and horizontally by extension, and tries to stuff as much information as possible into a small space.

AudioLink is a tool that makes searching for music
on your local storage media easier and faster.
Your searches can include a variety of criteria,
like male artists, female artists, band, genre,
etc. It is flexible: you can use a command line
interface or your choice of multiple GUIs, design
your own search criteria, etc. You can search MP3
and Ogg files and use AudioLink to categorize your
music collection.
